We represent trainees working at the European Commission to the Traineeships Office. the Directorate-Generals (DGs) and other services.
We support the Traineeships Office to inform trainees, to maximise the traineeship experience and to promote a spirit of collaboration.
The committee also liaises with the trainees' societies to assist with the organisation of a range of social activities.
Finally, we reach out to external partners to prepare activities and negotiate discounts for trainees.
SUBCOMMITTEES AND SOCIETIES
Each session during the first month of the Traineeship the Liaison Committee coordinates elections of the new Trainees' Committee, which will represent the trainees during the rest of the traineeship period.
During the first month subcommittees (Events, Networking, Communications, and Careers) and societies will be formed.
Subcommittees work directly under the Trainees' Committee to organize social, careers, and networking events and to manage the TC communication channels.
Societies are independent but can apply for funding from the Trainees' Committee. Each society has a coordinator who liaises with the Trainees' Committee.
Recent Blue Book sessions have included among others the following societies. These societies can be continued (re-established).
However, societies on any other topics can be formed. The starting point is to find a group of trainees interested in the topic and select a coordinator(s) for the group. New societies have a chance to present themselves at the societies evening held during the first 2 weeks of the traineeship.
See the next slide for current societies!
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
At the beginning of each traineeship session, trainees elect amongst themselves the Trainees' Committee and its auditors. Information regarding the positions will be shared on the run-up to the elections. The Liaison Committee operating in the first month of the traineeship will arrange the elections and brief the newly elected Trainees' Committee.
The roles in the Trainees' Committee are:
Social Events Coordinator
In addition, three auditors will be elected to oversee the Trainees' Committee.
To run for election, candidates must be a Brussels-based trainee (Luxembourg
trainees have their own Trainees' Committee) and a T-Card holder. Candidates
can stand for a maximum of two positions. Trainees nominate themselves for
election, have the opportunity to campaign and then present themselves on
election night. Nominations and votes are submitted online.
In case there are no candidates for a position, another candidate who received a high
number of votes, but was not elected may be proposed. For reasons of transparency, you
cannot be both a Coordinator of a Society and a member of the Trainees' Committee.
Please check with your supervisor before standing for the Trainees' Committee to be sure you have enough time to work for the Trainees' Committee besides your traineeship unit.
